Introducing Flexible Insurance

One of the most frequently asked questions is "how does the insurance work?". We totally understand why, having coverage in case something goes wrong during your trip is key to being able to relax and enjoy the rental. 

All Yourdrive rentals include insurance free of charge, however, an excess applies. During the requesting process, renters can pay a daily rate to reduce the excess amount.

Previously, renters couldn't change the excess amount their excess amount after submitting their booking request without assistance from the Yourdrive Support team. As this is a common occurrence, we’ve recently developed a system which enables renters to change their excess reduction option anytime up until pickup.

So, if you're having have second thoughts about risking it on the roads and want to play it safe, follow the instructions below.

Before the booking is confirmed:

You are able to adjust your level of insurance cover on your booking through the website up until the owner accepts the request and it becomes 'Paid and Confirmed'.

  1. Go to My Trips.
  2. Under "Upcoming Trips", find the booking you'd like to edit.
  3. Click View Details to go to the trip page.
  4. Click Change Insurance Cover and select the level of cover you'd like.
  5. Click Save Changes
  6. The booking cost will automatically update and you will be charged this amount once the booking request is accepted. 

Before the confirmed booking begins:

If your booking is 'Paid and Confirmed' you can increase your level of insurance cover for an additional cost.

  1. Go to My Trips.
  2. Under "Upcoming Trips", find the booking you'd like to edit.
  3. Click View Details to go to the trip page.
  4. Click Change Insurance Cover and select the level of cover you'd like.
  5. Enter your credit card details to pay the additional cost.
  6. If payment is processed successfully, your level of cover will be upgraded immediately and you will receive a receipt for the additional cost.
